Carrier Partners With Interplay For HVAC VR Training Modules

Carrier has partnered with Interplay Learning to create exclusive virtual reality training modules featuring realistic, hands-on scenarios with actual Carrier HVAC equipment, aiming to enhance dealer and distributor training, address industry skills gaps, and provide immersive, accessible education through desktop, laptop, or VR headset platforms.

Carrier has announced a collaboration with Interplay Learning to develop custom virtual reality (VR) training modules for its network of dealers and distributors. These modules will feature product-specific content exclusive to Carrier, allowing users to train on realistic, hands-on scenarios using actual Carrier equipment in a virtual environment. In addition to the custom modules, Carrier users will have access to Interplay’s catalog of over 100 hours of training content.

The VR modules are designed to help dealers and distributors train on complex concepts virtually, providing immersive, field-like experiences. This approach enables users to gain advance access to new equipment before it reaches consumers, ensuring they are well-prepared to work with new offerings. The training is accessible via desktop, laptop, or VR headset, making it convenient and increasing the likelihood of adoption and utilization.

Carrier’s initiative aims to address the skills gap in the HVAC industry by offering modern, accessible training methods that can attract and retain new talent. According to Holly Rhodes, Senior Manager of Training for Residential HVAC at Carrier, the partnership with Interplay Learning is expected to be a game changer for Carrier technicians and help educate potential technicians about the industry.

Doug Donovan, CEO of Interplay Learning, highlighted the effectiveness of simulation-based training, noting its proven success in industries such as medical, aviation, and military fields. Interplay Learning has trained more than 70,000 students and professionals with its simulation products.
