Future of Virtual Hands-On Training in Solar | Interplay
Interplay's newly launched Solar Training Program offers an innovative, industry-specific simulation-based learning experience accessible via computers, tablets, and VR headsets, combining at-home activities with immersive, hands-on virtual reality training to enhance employee skills in solar installation procedures, as demonstrated at the NABCEP 2018 Solar Conference.
Our Solar Training Program has just launched, aiming to help companies grow and support their employees through improved training. This program is the first industry-specific training initiative that uses simulation-based learning accessible via both computers/tablets and virtual reality (VR) headsets. The goal is to ensure that the hardware supports the learning environment in the most effective way possible. For example, simulation activities can be completed at home on a computer, while small groups in a warehouse setting can use VR headsets for hands-on training.
Immersive, virtual reality training is a relatively new approach, and we strive to demonstrate what it's like to learn new procedures in VR. At the recent NABCEP 2018 Solar Conference, we recorded a video of a new user trying out the AC Disconnect Installation Simulation. This video captures the immersive learning experience, highlighting the use of a procedure guide for instruction, full-body movements that aid information retention, and detailed elements incorporated into the installation process.
We encourage anyone interested to reach out with questions and hope to provide the opportunity to experience VR training firsthand soon!
